VIBE Home Makeover Core Improvements

In VIBE’s first year in the Tampa Bay area, five families will receive home makeovers or renovations at no charge to the recipient families-in-need.

Four recipients receive the Select Edition, with six or more major improvements and a selection of finishing touches.

One recipient receives the Flagship Edition renovation, an extensive interior and exterior transformation with 18 or more major upgrades and an array of home décor finishing touches. 

The improvements are completed during multiple six-day windows for the Select Series, and during a 12-day window for the Flagship renovation.

The improvements that we include are based on multiple factors: the recipient’s home site and age of home, existing floor plan and recent improvements, family circumstances and financial challenges, the household’s needs, and availability of products from our VIBE partners. There are a plethora of improvement options that may be available for the recipient families.

Today, we will detail our Core Improvements, three major facelifts that will act as the foundation for all VIBE Home Makeover projects.

All VIBE recipients receive these three major upgrades, whether they are part of the Select Makeover Series, or the Flagship Renovation. These three Core Improvements include: complete exterior painting, extensive landscaping and gardening, and custom interior painting.

First, every VIBE home receives a complete exterior makeover—an extensive refresh of their home’s outside environment. We start with new paint, and lots of it. VIBE partner employee volunteers, some 30-to-60 dedicated community contributors at each home, with expert guidance from our paint partners, will provide a new coat of stunning paint on the home’s outside walls.

As they brush with love, they provide a complete refresh of the homes’ exterior walls with a color theme of the recipients choosing. All the trim is then painted with matching color choices, then the doors are painted with coordinating themes.

Second, a nice rejuvenation of the exterior’s landscaping is completed. Depending on the need of the home, and the wishes of the family, multiple landscape and garden components are added and planted. Again, between 30-to-60 ‘green thumb’ employee volunteers from our partners make this cultivation a reality. This could include new flowers, beds, plants, bushes, shrubs, trees, and other greenery. Accent pavers, stone, edging, outdoor lighting, and other modest hardscape may compliment the outside transformation.

Third, another team of 30-60 dedicated volunteers embrace the mission-like task of repainting the interior of each home. Depending on the families’ wishes, most or all of the rooms’ walls receive a fresh coat of paint, to brighten the lives of those who reside.

Walls, trim, and sometimes doors are painted with colors selected by each recipient family. Multiple color scheme options give the families the opportunities to ‘make it their own.’ Low-to-no VOC products are applied in their interior space, allowing the families to return to their homes to a safe and healthy environment, shortly after the makeovers are completed.

These three Core Improvements act as the groundwork for the home makeovers (and in the case of exterior landscaping, literally). Other ‘Major Upgrades’ and ‘Choice Options’ improvements are then added, with all homes complimented by an array of ‘Finishing Touches’ to complete the makeover process, turning their houses into homes.

Recipient families come home to an amazingly renewed environment, and a completely renewed perspective.

The VIBE Home Makeover Select Edition improvements are expected to be valued at $30,000 or more for each home, for a total community impact of $120,000 for the four-home series. The Flagship Renovation is expected to be valued at more than $180,000 for the complete exterior and interior transformation. Together, our partners will contribute more than $300,000 in community impact just in Tampa Bay during our inaugural year.

Funding for VIBE Home Makeovers is provided by project partners, who contribute financial resources, home-related products, professional installation, and employee volunteer support.
